I have always strongly felt that pairing wine with food is very personal experience. If German guy thought a particular wine as dry and at the same time Italian man may not agree with him and that is the difference we see at combining food with wine. Nevertheless, what is common is that to pair wines with cheese. This should be from the same region as it is safe to start wine and cheese combination.

The most typical wine and food combination, is of Wine and Cheese. Many times the parties are have cheese as the main snack; it makes the wine more tastier. It smooths out the wine and brings out the best of both. Usually, red wines go well with hard cheese and white goes well with the lighter variety. Ice wine goes well with fruit pastries.

If you really wants to please your guests with the superb combination of wine and chocolates, you can opt for Riesling, Cabernet or port. You can invite cheese without crackers also. Besides having a good taste with chocolates, it does help in cleaning the palate. Seasoned and heavily salted crackers can change the taste of wine.

Sometimes, delicious and nutritious nuts also give good looking feel to the palate. May it be roasted, salted or raw nuts are great especially with red wines.

Even dried, fresh fruits can be added. Cherries & berries go well with the port. Many people prefer to have sweet chocolates with sweet wines and semi-sweet  chocolates go well with dry wine. Rich, velvety chocolates when combined with the red wine like Cabernet Sauvingnon or Zinfandel gives feeling of heaven. In a nutshell, all these are the best appetizers to serve with wines. Chocolates and wines are both the products of fermentation and they taste better when gets older.

One of the thing I must mention in this regard, is that continue to taste the lightest to darkest chocolate, with the light to heavy alcoholic wines. Champagne does not match with chocolate remember this always!

After all, the taste is subjective and one cannot force another to taste the same what one has tasted. So one should go on trying to match the best. There are goat’s milk cheeses, Gouda, Manchego, Pecorino, Brie Camembert, Cheddar, Fresh Fruits, Berries, Pees and like that also which one should try.
